LA GARGOUILLE !
THE OLDEST PACK IN PARIS BY FAR, THEY'RE RUNNING THE SHOW.
Few pack mates among the Gargouille pack have rabies, as they are careful about who they let in, and those with rabies tend to be viewed as a liability, and potentially unmanageable. However, though they are cautious about who is allowed inside, they are not heartless, turning away everyone. Assuming a loup-garou is of sound mind, or in honest need of help which they can not get else where, they are likely acceptable. However, the majority of its members are still from longstanding werewolf families, though they are open to bitten werewolves-- primarily those bitten on purpose and with consent, not random attack victims. There is a general feel of camaraderie within this group not found in such a large amount in other packs. They work as a team, they respect one another, and they are highly stable due to diligent hard work.
Their thoughts on the government is that they would really rather not be open among the public, but they neither actively encourage or discourage members from joining. They trust them to make a sound judgment on whether it is the right decision for them, but make certain they know that secrecy is one of their highest values; talk of pack life and who is in it is completely forbidden, as is outing any other werewolf, pack mate or not.

LA DIABLE !
THEY'RE KIND OF LIKE THE REBELLIOUS CHILD. WITH RABIES.
Though only a few years old, La Diable is well known, and its members are known to be... temperamental, to say the least. Many, even the majority, of its members were bitten instead of born, and an overwhelmingly large amount of them have rabies, in contrast to most other longer-standing packs who tend to shun them. La Diable seems instead to embrace the nature of rabies; they are swift-shifting, brutal, and often harsh. In-fighting is the norm with this group, and it is in a constant state of turmoil; it's hard to keep reign on so many wolves with so many personality problems. The people are severe, and so are the punishments. Though true hard-and-fast rules might seem few and far between, they are known to be touchy about things, and it's better to play it safe than sorry if you plan on doing something stupid, unless you enjoy being beaten for your mistakes to be put back in your proper place. It's not a pack for the faint of heart... but what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. La Diable has named itself, quite fittingly, after demons.
La Diable formed from the remains of a few smaller packs, rejects from larger packs, and many mutts; they grew large due to their eager acceptance of bitten werewolves and the fact they rarely turn away those with rabies. Their thoughts are that anyone is welcome, provided they can handle themselves and keep up with pack life in the way expected of them. La Diable is not a very trusting pack, and they highly discourage registration, as well as tattle-telling on your own kind to the government in any way. However, while they are rough with rule enforcement when it comes to ratting people out, it happens sadly-often among their ranks. Perhaps due to the fact so few members were born werewolves, they do not understand the full weight of proper secrecy. Also possibly because, in the end, La Diable also believes in exacting personal revenge, and do not teach remorse for it.
La Diable fancies themselves the new wave of packs; more modern, more understanding of the world and what is going on inside of it. Instead of trying to hold on to the past, or to keep themselves pure, they embrace the carnality of life far more readily. They believe other packs tend to be too stuffy and miss out on opportunities for personal power because of that.

LA MORALITÉ !
WELL, SOMEONE'S GOTTA BE ON THE GOVERNMENT'S SIDE IN ALL THIS, RIGHT?
Dealing with other packs is not La Moralité's strongest suit. In fact, all the other packs seem to avoid them at nearly all costs; they are thought of as nothing more than snitches to the government by most, which is close enough. Some members have a personal vendetta against non-registered lycanthropes, and all will make an attempt to inform the government about any unregistered loups-garoux they run across. Many enjoy the fact other packs don't tend to seek them out; they would rather be left alone by the monsters who made them what they are.
Members of Moralité range all across the board, from all walks of life. A large majority of them have rabies, as they are predominantly freshly-bitten lycanthropes. While barely two years old, the members of this pack are nevertheless quite close. They're all basically trauma victims, after all; the newly bitten werewolves who have no idea what else to do with themselves, who have no where else to go, who don't understand why this has happened to them, who don't know how else to deal with being un-human. Given the choice between trusting the government that has been looking out for them their entire lives and the beasts who pulled the rug out from under their feet, it's easy to see who they've chosen.
Moralité loups-garoux have gotten into the habit of having regular group therapy sessions at the Cavey facility, which all pack members are encouraged to attend, though it's not compulsory to make an appearance.

THE STRUCTURE OF A PACK !
FOLLOW THIS HANDY-DANDY GUIDE SO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU STAND.
Ranking with a pack is very important, and everyone knows and understand their roles, though there is often some degree of overlapping as nothing is set entirely in stone. Just because one member is higher ranked than another does not mean that one member may not be better suited towards a certain specific job, and thus chosen instead of the higher ranked member. A pack understands that they should use the best person for the job whenever possible.
ALPHA
ALPHA
- The alpha(s) are the head, or leaders, of a pack and they are the highest authority of pack hierarchy. They are dominant over all the other wolves, though to say they are their "bosses" is a bit too drastic. They get first say in things and their words and actions are often held with higher regards than any other members; a pack will usually follow their lead rather than questioning it. It is their job to look after all underneath them and solve disputes whenever necessary of them. There are usually two alphas in each pack, and most often they are a mated pair.
- The second in command of a pack, the betas come in behind the alphas in ranking and dominance. They will usually take over when the alphas have to leave or for some reason cannot lead the pack, and their words are held with high regard. There are usually two betas per pack, and they are not always, or even generally, a mated pair.
- Assumed third in command, the gamma tends to be in charge of keeping pack health maintained, both medically and socially. The gamma may also take it upon themselves to help resolve in-pack feuds quite often, as it is their job to keep social ties between the pack properly maintained. There is usually two to four gammas per single pack.
- The delta may rank behind the gamma, but their part in a pack is just as important, and in reality the two groups are often so close in dominant position as to seem interchangeable in hierarchy depending on circumstances. They act as a guide or teacher for new wolves to their pack, in particular newly infected werewolves and are the teachers of the pups of a pack. There are usually two to four per pack, and it is their duty to make sure all new members of their pack understand pack law as well as werewolf society law.
- These are the general membership of a pack; anyone who is unranked is in this position. It is not a position of disgrace, they simply do not have as much responsibility as those above them in the pack. Most members of a pack fall into this group.
- New members of a pack are given the Zeta position. This is basically considered the "trial" position; if after a certain amount of time it is decided they are acceptable members, they are given the rank as Epsilon and considered true members. Likewise, werewolves who have done wrong and are teetering on being pushed out of the pack are demoted to this position until their fates are decided.
- Non-adult members of a pack; pups. Non-adult werewolves, while they are certainly valued members of their pack, do not hold official ranking within it, and do not have a say in how things are run when it gets down to it.
- The lowest ranking and most submissive member, or members, of a pack. Generally this is not a position of shame so much as a "fact of life" position.
- Lone wolves, mutts as they are often called, are something of an oddity- it's practically a shame to be one, and in some people's eyes, it is. While there are different reasons a werewolf might be a mutt, one common reason is that they were kicked out of the pack, or simply not accepted for some reason. These mutts do indeed carry some shame. Others are simply not pack members by choice, whatever that may be, though this is something of a rarity.
